AZAL and Azerpost Present Commemorative Postage Stamp Dedicated to Flight J2-8243

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Azerpost LLC, parts of AZCON Holding, have presented a commemorative postage stamp dedicated to the tragedy that occurred during the operation of the scheduled Baku – Grozny flight J2-8243.

The presentation ceremony took place at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. As part of the event, a sample of the stamp was displayed as a special exhibition piece at the museum. The design of the stamp features the infinity symbol, representing the eternal remembrance of the tragic event, its victims, and the heroism of the crew who left an indelible mark on the nation’s history.

The release of the commemorative stamp was a joint initiative of AZAL and Azerpost and was dedicated to the anniversary of the aircraft accident that occurred near Aktau on 25 December 2024. In addition to honouring the cherished memory of the victims, the project highlights the courage and professionalism of the crew members whose coordinated and selfless actions under extreme conditions saved the lives of 29 people.

Family members of the crew — National Heroes of the Republic of Azerbaijan — also attended the presentation. They expressed their gratitude to the organizers for the attention shown and for preserving the heroic memory of their loved ones. During the event, commemorative stamps were presented to the families of the National Heroes and to members of the Flight J2-8243 crew as a sign of public respect for their courage and professionalism.

One of the notable aspects of the project is its charitable nature. All proceeds from the sale of the commemorative stamps will be donated to the YAŞAT Foundation.

At the conclusion of the event, guests were invited to take part in a guided tour of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, which also features a dedicated section honouring the crew of Flight J2-8243.
